The Germany Africa Business Forum Deepens German-South Sudanese Economic Relations

The Germany Africa Business Forum (GABF) will participate in the “South Sudan Oil & Power” conference of Energy Capital & Power, which will take place for the 4th time in Juba from June 29th to June 30th. Opened by President H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit, this year’s conference will focus on raising capital and innovative financing to build energy and infrastructure projects.

Looking at the young history of South Sudan, Germany plays an important role. As one of the first countries to recognize South Sudan as an independent nation, the Federal Republic set an important milestone in South Sudanese history.

As with the 2-day conference, the Federal Republic is very concerned about building a strong and stable state. Accordingly, Germany, as one of the main investors, supports the South Sudanese infrastructure.

“We at GABF are very happy that it is possible to slowly get back in touch with the people on the ground and thus also achieve important progress in the development of South Sudan’s infrastructure,” says Sebastian Wagner, Executive Chairman of GABF.

In addition to building a stable state, the responsible and long-term use of resources plays a major role. South Sudan, in addition to its various biodiversity, also possesses the 3rd largest oil reserves in sub-Saharan Africa, which hold enormous potential.

“Covid-19 has brought the entire world to a standstill for a long time. It is therefore important to now pick up where we left off and further strengthen the German-South Sudanese relations,” says Wagner.
