March 2017 — Under the honorary patronage of former Beninese President H.E. Thomas Boni Yayi, the GABF hosted its first-ever privately held event exclusively dedicated to strengthening investment ties between Germany and Africa in Berlin on March 23, 2017.
As a pan-African champion, H.E. Boni Yayi strongly promoted the development of trade and political relations between Africa and Germany. H.E. Boni Yayi was Benin’s president between 2006 and 2016 and previously served as Chairperson of the African Union.
